When it comes to backyard pest control in Alpharetta, mosquitoes take up a lot of attention. As a result, other pests can fly (or crawl) under the radar. Ticks are a perfect example. While they’re a lot less annoying and in-your-face than mosquitoes, they represent a serious threat to people and pets. That’s why Mosquito Hunters™ strongly recommends our tick prevention service for homes in our community.
With our treatments, you can stop ticks dead in their tracks before they enter your yard. This dramatically reduces the chance of encountering a tick and getting bit while spending time outside. Your family members will benefit from the same protection, including any four-legged family members who enjoy the outdoors.
By reducing the risk of tick bites, you’ll reduce the risk of contracting a tick-borne illness. These illnesses, which include Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever, have serious health consequences and can be fatal without timely treatment. Because these conditions are only spread through tick bites, tick prevention is critical to reducing the risk of these diseases.
How Tick Prevention Works
At Mosquito Hunters, our tick prevention services rely on a technique known as a barrier treatment. A barrier treatment is applied to the vegetation around the perimeter of your yard. When the treatment dries, it bonds to the vegetation, creating a defensive barrier against ticks.
Our barrier treatments use a product that neutralizes ticks on contact, killing them before they have the chance to enter your yard. This product works thanks to an active ingredient derived from the chrysanthemum flower — one of nature’s most powerful pest-fighters. While lethal to ticks, this ingredient is gentle enough that it’s found in a number of household products, including anti-lice shampoos.
After we’ve applied a barrier treatment, the treatment product remains active for a minimum of 21 days. Throughout this time, your yard will be protected against tick activity. We can maintain this coverage by applying a new treatment every three weeks. This way, there’s a much lower risk of tick bites when spending time in your yard.
