Everything You Need to Know About Perimeter Pests

At Mosquito Hunters, although we specialize in going after mosquitos, we also have a strong focus on perimeter pest protection. There are 30 different species of insects that we protect against, most notable; spiders, ants, beetles, ticks, and earwigs.

Controlling these perimeter pests is imperative to having a safe, pest free home. Stopping them from coming close to your home guarantees that they won’t become a problem within your home.

What We Do

Once you select a perimeter pest treatment plan that best suits your needs, our technicians will come out and treat the perimeter of your home roughly four times per Mosquito Season, which starts in April and ends in October. Not only will they be spraying the perimeter of your home to provide a pest barrier, they also will treat mulch beds, shrubs, and ground cover.

Why Controlling Perimeter Pests is Important

Any pest that enters your home, no matter what it is, can cause a nuisance. When it comes to ants, regardless of the size of the infestation, they can chew through wooden areas of your home. This can lead to creating a passage for more ants to come into your home, as well as can weaken the structural integrity of your home depending on the size of the infestation and the duration of it. Not to mention, ants crawling around inside your place of residence is just flat out annoying and not something anyone should have to worry about.

As for spiders, they are less likely to cause structural damage to your home, but more likely to put your health at risk. The most notable spider species found in Michigan are; Daddy Longlegs, Cross Orb Weaver, Garden Spider, Striped Fishing Spider, White Banded Crab Spider, Triangulate Cobweb, etc. While all of these are relatively harmless to humans, Michigan is also home to two venomous spiders, the Black Widow and the Brown Recluse, although these spiders are rarely life threatening, they can cause you to be very sick if bitten. Besides the harmful factors associated with spiders, they overall aren’t a welcoming sight for anyone to see inside their house, which is why it’s important to look into perimeter pest control options such as Mosquito Hunters.
