Licensed Pest Control Company Educates the Community about Ticks
Grand Rapids, MI – MDHHS (Michigan Department of Health & Human Services) stated that there are over 20 known species of ticks in Michigan. At Mosquito Hunters of Grand Rapids East, they noticed that there was an increase of tick treatments during the 2021 season, and with an increase in ticks means an increase of danger to your pets and family. Ticks are most active between April and September.
Summers in West Michigan are great for being outdoors, going to the beach, and spending time with family, but it is important that people are aware of the diseases that ticks carry. These diseases can harm yourself and your pets. If bitten by a tick, symptoms will include rash, swollen lymph nodes, fever, fatigue, and headaches. If the infection isn’t treated, it could spread to your joints, nervous system, and heart; resulting in facial palsy, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, and inflammation of the spinal cord.
The most common disease caused by ticks is Lyme Disease. Commonly found in Michigan, the blacklegged tick is known to cause this disease.
