Kill or Be Killed… or at Least Bit.

What are you scared of?

When it comes to what makes your heart race, you may think of Goosebumps or “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” If you didn’t grow up in the 90’s, it may be something more rational like snakes or clowns or even runners (have you ever gone and ran just because? Not fun. If someone is running, I don’t want to know what’s behind them). However, the deadliest creature on the planet is something much less visible, it’s the lowly mosquito.

Small but Dangerous!

Despite their tiny size, they stir up a lot of trouble. They are resilient little bugs, famous for guest starring in Jurassic Park, they survived the extinction that the T-Rex couldn’t and find themselves thriving more than ever today. One bite from a mosquito can increase their population by hundreds. All they need is the proteins found in the blood of its victim and mosquitoes can lay hundreds of eggs in the smallest amounts of water. Best case scenario, they bite, and it creates an uncomfortable itch. Worst case scenario, you are one of over 700,000 people killed every year by diseases transmitted by mosquitoes. In case you aren’t familiar with these diseases, some of the more common ones are:

  • West Nile Virus
  • Zika Virus
  • Dengue Fever
  • Chikungunya
  • Eastern Equine Encephalitis
  • Western Equine Encephalitis
  • Lous Encephalitis
  • Malaria
  • Yellow Fever
  • Ross River Virus

Knowledge is Power!

While the symptoms can vary from mild to deadly, the best way to avoid contracting these diseases is by reducing the population altogether. Eliminating standing water is the best course of action that you can take to prevent the mosquito population from increasing tremendously. If you take two identical properties and have one perfectly manicured and cared for and the other with clogged gutters, bird baths full of water, French drains holding water, unfilled tree holes, wheelbarrows sitting upright in a corner, and kids toys collecting water from the sprinklers or rain, one home will have few mosquitoes and the other will be overrun with them.

This is where Mosquito Hunters come in. While we cannot maintain your backyard for you, we can eliminate small amounts of standing water, point out the potential trouble spots for you, put larvicide in standing water that can’t be removed (as well as low spots where water could collect), and spray a barrier treatment to knock down active mosquitoes. As your locally owned and operated friendly neighborhood Mosquito Hunters, we want to eliminate as many mosquitoes as possible to protect not only you and your family, but ours as well.
