The Fleas are Ready to Leap into Spring, are you?

Bye Bye to Freezing Temps!

Freezing weather is about behind us for the foreseeable future! If you are jumping for joy, you are not the only one. While fleas survive year-round in Texas, their ideal conditions are when the temperatures are in the 70s and 80s and with humidity. If you have pets, you know the nuisance they can be.

Fleas can Jump?

What you may not know, is that they can jump over 150 times the length of their body (hence the hysterical title). This gives them an incredible survival tactic to jump from host to host. In the great outdoors they reside in tall grass, shaded areas and dog runs. They like the shade, and they like areas where our pets like to go. That is where their leaping ability comes in to play. If Fido (or George in our household) finds a nice cozy spot to rest in the backyard, Frankie the Flea could be one small leap for man and one giant leap for Frankie away from starting a new colony in Fido’s fur. They need a host to reproduce, and when they do, they can lay up to fifty eggs a day. Once they start to populate it is hard to stop. The best way to keep fleas from invading your pets (and potentially your house) is by preventing them from beginning.

Prevention is the key!

At Mosquito Hunters, we offer both a preventative and a knockdown program. Starting in the springtime, we treat your front and back yard with our proven product formulation to kill fleas where they sit. Once they are dead, they do not leap on their pets, lay more eggs, or even spread disease. If you discover that your pets have fleas, or worse you find them bouncing around your home, it can take around six weeks to fully rid your home of the tiny acrobats. If you would rather protect your pets and your home from these frolicking freeloaders from the get-go, give us a call or send us a text and we will get you squared away! As the apostle James says, “resist the devil and he will flea from you,” we say “call Mosquito Hunters and the fleas will resist you”.
