Configuration
Site-Level Configuration
After activating Perfmatters, go to Settings > Perfmatters in the WordPress dashboard. Here you can enable or disable various optimization features such as:
- Disabling emojis, embeds, and unnecessary scripts
- Lazy loading for images and videos
- Preload key resources and use DNS prefetch
- Google Fonts optimizations
- Heartbeat API control
- Database cleanup options
Network-Level Configuration
For WordPress Multisite installations, additional controls are available under Network Admin > Settings > Perfmatters:
- Network Access: Control who can access plugin settings – Site Admins (default), Network Default, or None.
- Clean Uninstall: Optionally delete all plugin settings from the database upon uninstall.
- Apply Default Settings: Choose a site and apply your network’s default settings to that site.
- Bulk Apply: Apply the network default settings to all sites in the network (may take time based on site count).
Usage
Enable the desired optimizations through the settings page. Changes typically take effect immediately and can significantly improve your site’s loading times and performance scores on tools like Google PageSpeed Insights.
